Information
The story beyond this location.

Parco Dora in Turin, Italy, isn't your classic park. It's a vast urban park built on the city's former industrial heartland. Once a bustling factory zone spanning over 45 hectares (over 450,000 square meters) and home to giants like Fiat and Michelin, Parco Dora faced a new chapter after the decline of heavy industry.

In the early 2000s, Turin embarked on a revitalization project. An international competition yielded the design for a modern urban park, and construction unfolded between 2008 and 2011.

Parco Dora's unique character lies in its ability to blend its industrial past with its present green identity. Visitors will encounter remnants of factories alongside landscaped areas and walking paths. Iconic red pillars, remnants of a steel plant, now stand tall, providing shade for events and activities.

The park offers a variety of experiences beyond just green spaces. Walking and cycling paths weave through the landscape, while event spaces, sports facilities, and even a large covered square for concerts and markets cater to diverse interests. The nearby MAcA museum is a popular attraction, particularly for families.

The park is further divided into five zones, each named after its former industrial occupant: Vitali, Ingest, Valdocco, Michelin, and Mortara.

Parco Dora stands as a testament to urban renewal, a place where history and nature come together to offer a unique green space for the city of Turin.

How Techno Shaped the Sounds of Today

Techno's hypnotic rhythms and futuristic soundscapes have pulsed through clubs and festivals for decades, but its influence extends far beyond the dance floor. This genre, born in the industrial heart of Detroit in the 1980s, has left an undeniable mark on the entire music industry.

From Underground to Global Phenomenon

Pioneers like Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson (known as the Belleville Three) crafted a sound that fused electronic experimentation with African American music traditions like funk and electro. This unique blend resonated with a generation seeking a new sonic identity.

Techno's impact wasn't limited to the US. It found fertile ground in Europe, particularly Germany, where artists like Kraftwerk had already been pushing the boundaries of electronic music. The genre diversified, spawning subgenres like acid techno and hardcore, each with its own distinct character.
