NASTIA @ PHOTON

This was my second time playing for PHOTON, and both experiences have felt special in their own way.

This time I was playing right before Ben Klock, so I approached the set with that particular position in the night in mind. I chose a more textured and layered trajectory rather than pushing the energy too hard, moving between deeper, hypnotic techno moments and more classic techno elements, while keeping the sound predominantly contemporary.

For me, a DJ set is always connected to its place within the night. It’s not only about what you want to play, but also about reading the room, understanding what came before you and creating the right space for what comes next. So this techno set was built more through tension, texture and gradual movement than through constant peaks.

There are moments that go deeper, moments that feel more direct and timeless, and others that reflect the modern deep techno sound I’m particularly interested in right now. I wanted all of these elements to coexist naturally without forcing the journey.

Big thanks to the PHOTON and ENCORE teams for inviting me back, for the trust and for giving me the space to tell this story. I really hope this wasn’t our last time together.

Recorded live by Emil Haji at PHOTON / ENCORE in Lyon, France.

I'm Nastia — Ukrainian DJ, promoter, and label boss. As a multi-genre DJ, I've crafted my own unmistakable sound, spanning from house and underground techno to the speedy grooves of jungle and drum and bass.

I launched my second label TECHNO Records in 2019 in Kyiv, and it quickly turned into an event series. To this day, it's a torchbearer for authentic dance music.

In DJ Nastia presents “Live Techno Mix” I play demo tracks by upcoming TECHNO Records producers — not just a techno mix, it’s an audio-visual experience in the most unique locations of Ukraine for electronic music and techno lovers.

Having hosted radio shows, including a residency on BBC Radio One, I've started the latest project on this channel — True Talk, a series of open and honest conversations with fellow musicians in a relaxed atmosphere. Ranging from Techno DJs, promoters, to producers, the project is not to be mistaken with interviews — it’s a genuine dialogue, coming back now with TECHNO Records artists.
